Fall Enrollment Census
Here is a summary of the fall enrollment based upon the census date of Sept. 9. We can be proud of the progress made in the enrollment of new students for this fall, a 17 percent increase of freshman and transfer students over last fall. The continued progress in retention is also noteworthy. The third semester retention rate is 80 percent, compared with 78 percent last year and the five-year average of 73 percent. The fifth semester retention rate is 70 percent, compared with 58 percent last year and the five-year average of 60 percent. Much thanks to the university community for joining forces to reverse the decline in new student enrollment experienced in fall 2015, and for continuous efforts to improve retention.
Note: The slides from the University Forum on Sept. 20 are posted on the President's Office webpage. These slides provide additional information about enrollments, as well as the university’s positive performance for fiscal year 2015–16.
First Friday Community Prayer
All are welcome to participate in the community prayer service held in San Damiano Chapel on the first Friday of each month. The format is ecumenical and begins at 8 a.m. and concludes by 8:50 a.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to embody Viterbo’s core value of contemplation—reflecting upon the presence of God in our lives and work. Employees are excused from work assignments to participate in this gathering with the approval of their supervisors. Please join us Friday, Oct. 7.
Feast Day is Oct. 4
Franciscan communities throughout the world celebrate the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi on Oct. 4. University events scheduled include liturgy at St. Rose Convent at 11 a.m., a community luncheon celebration in Marian Hall Dining Room, a farmer's market from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. in Viterbo Court (in front of Murphy Center), a pet blessing in Assisi Courtyard at 5:15 p.m., and a community service initiative on Saturday, Oct. 15.
