Celebrating Undergraduate Research

Kudos to all involved in the Seven Rivers Undergraduate Research Symposium. More than 200 students and faculty from 13 colleges and universities were on campus Nov. 11 to showcase undergraduate research through oral and poster presentations. Special thanks to faculty mentors, without whom these outstanding young scholars would not be engaged in this high impact experience. I’m grateful to the many faculty, administration, staff, and students who extended Franciscan hospitality to our guests and to those involved in the planning, set up, printing of posters, food service and other logistic which contributed to a most successful day: Kirsten Gabriel, Fine Arts Center staff, Karen Hurtgen, Mary Simota, Carolyn Hanoski, and our two great student assistants in academic affairs, Samantha Merkel and Lauren Scheunemann.

Saluting our Veterans

Thanks to Fr. Conrad, Emilio Alvarez, Polly Pappadopoulos and the St. Francis Choir, keynote speaker Larry Harwood, and veterans’ point of contact Cliff Singelais for planning a wonderful salute to our women and men in uniform, past and present.

Happy Thanksgiving

On behalf of the cabinet and deans, I extend our best wishes for a restful and safe Thanksgiving holiday. Likewise, Joan joins me in expressing our gratitude for your support and friendship this past decade. We pray you and your family will be blessed abundantly this holiday season and through the years ahead.
