Welcome new and returning faculty. We look forward to seeing you and and offering you support this year. The library offers a number of services for teaching and classroom support.
Library Instruction: Instruction and orientation sessions are an effective way to help students with any part of the research process:
- In-person classes: Schedule a session in the library's lab or have a librarian visit your classroom.
- Online classes: Using Adobe Connect, librarians can instruct individuals or an entire class virtually.
- Subject Guides and Tutorials: Partner with librarians to create subject or course-specific guides to library research.
- Appointments: Meet with a librarian for individualized help.
For more information on library instruction, email Kim Olson-Kopp or Annie Baumann.
Course Reserves: The library offers a physical reserve shelf to instructors. Use the Course Reserves Search to find titles currently on reserve. Instructors should complete a fair use analysis using this checklist for each item placed on reserve. To add an item to reserve, bring it to the library and fill out a reserve form at the main desk. For more information on reserves, contact the main desk at ext. 3269.
Streaming Media Services: To stream media, faculty can request videos (DVD or VHS) that Viterbo owns (either held by the library or a university department) to be streamed by the media center for use in their classes. Fill out a streaming request form. If the library holds the item, it will be sent for streaming. When complete, the requestor will receive an email with instructions on embedding the video into their Moodle course. Allow up to a week for streaming. For a list of streamed items, view Streaming Media-VU Library.
Interlibrary Loan: If you cannot find an item through Viterbo University's catalog or databases, we will borrow the item for you from another library. Log in to your Interlibrary Loan Account to make new requests. Refer to the Interlibrary Loan Subject Guide for information on setting up an account and making requests. If you have any questions, we will be happy to guide you through the request process. Contact us.
Have a great year!
