UNIVERSITY FEB. 27; PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY FEB. 23–MARCH 31

CROSSE, Wis. – Award-winning photographer and author John Noltner will speak at
Viterbo University as part of the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in
Leadership’s Spring Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27 in the Fine Arts
Center Lobby.

Noltner has spent the past three
years exploring the meaning of peace. Amidst culture wars and political
battles, he has asked the question, “What does peace mean to you?” to more than
50 ordinary people with extraordinary stories.

His photography exhibit, A Peace
of My Mind, is the result
of Noltner’s exploration, a multimedia art project that fosters public dialogue
about issues related to conflict resolution, civic responsibility, and peace.
With black and white portraits and oral histories, over 50 subjects describe
what peace means to them, how they work toward it in their lives, and some of
the obstacles they encounter. Those profiled include Holocaust survivors and a
homeless man, a Somali refugee and a military chaplain, a pottery instructor
and an oil company executive. His work is also featured in his book, A Peace of My Mind: Exploring the Meaning of
Peace One Story at a Time.

A Peace of My Mind will be on
display in the Viterbo Fine Arts Center from Sunday, Feb. 23–Monday, March 31.
It is co-sponsored by Viterbo University, World Services of La Crosse, and the
Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration.
