The 2016–17 Viterbo One-of-a-Kind Chamber Music Series continues Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall with Czech It Out: The Music of Janáček and Dvořák, featuring the Artaria String Quartet and pianist Mary Ellen Haupert.
The Artaria String Quartet is celebrating their 30th anniversary and will perform two concerts as part of the 2016-17 One-of-a-Kind Chamber Music Series. This first concert will feature performances of Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet in B-flat Major, Op. 76, No. 4, Sunrise; Leoš Janáček’s String Quartet No. 1, Kreutzer Sonata; and Dvořák’s Piano Quintet in A Major, Op. 81.
“The theme of this season is celebrating milestones, and we’re thrilled to be a part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Artaria String Quartet,” said Mary Ellen Haupert, Viterbo faculty member and artistic director for the series. “Concerts by the quartet have been an integral part of the One-of-a-Kind Chamber Music Series since its inception, and we’re pleased we can acknowledge that relationship with two special concerts this year.”
The third concert of the series will take place Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. with Italian Souvenirs: The Music of Wolf and Tchaikovsky featuring the Artaria String Quartet with former quartet members violist Renée Skerik and cellist Laura Thielke. Both the November and February concerts are sponsored by the Lukasek Family Endowment Fund. Wisconsin Public Radio is the media sponsor for the One-of-a-Kind Chamber Music performances.
Tickets are $22 for general admission seating. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or visit www.viterbo.edu/tickets.
