NUCLEUS JOHNSON TO PRESENT “ECHOES OF A KING” AT THE LA CROSSE COMMUNITY ANNUAL REV. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. CELEBRATION AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY JAN. 17

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Relive the famous speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as renowned orator Nucleus Johnson presents “Echoes of a King” as part of the La Crosse Community Annual Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.

Johnson has electrified audiences across the U.S. with his soul-stirring rendition of the speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Johnson has dedicated himself to honoring the incredible legacy of Dr. King, and in 2003, he received a special invitation from Coretta Scott King to participate in the MLK celebration in Atlanta. As articulated by Dr. King, Johnson believes that if we do not learn to live together peacefully as brothers, we will all perish together as fools.

The La Crosse Community Annual Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration is free and open to the public. A donation of a non-perishable food item is encouraged. Registration is not required, but seating is limited.

The event will also feature music by the Viterbo University music department and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse alumnus Jason Kurt, and the presentation of the MLK Leadership Award. The award honors extraordinary contributions to the La Crosse community that demonstrate Rev. King’s legacy of positive change from generation to generation. Judge Ramona Gonzalez will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies.

The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration is organized by the La Crosse Community Annual Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee and is hosted by Viterbo University. Johnson’s appearance is co-sponsored by the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership at Viterbo University. The event is held each year to celebrate the legacy of this American hero and icon.
