Young Alumnus Establishes Scholarship at Viterbo University

Nick Johnson said he feels a debt of gratitude to Viterbo University. He has expressed his appreciation by creating a scholarship to help Viterbo students. The Nicholas A. Johnson Scholarship for Student Leadership will provide two annual $1,000 awards for a male and female outstanding athlete who are involved in service to the student body through leadership in service organizations. “I’ve been giving back to the university since the senior class gift,” Johnson said. “Viterbo gave me the opportunity to learn, explore, and develop, and this is one way I can express my gratitude.” Johnson, 29, graduated from Viterbo in 2002 and is employed at Park Place Motor Cars in Rochester, Minn., a division of Luther Automotive. During his time at Viterbo, he served as the announcer for university athletics events and was very active in a large number of campus clubs and organizations, including Students in Free Enterprise. “Nick is a relatively recent graduate, and as such is inspiring for others who realize that young alumni are able to make a big difference in their alma mater,” said Gary Klein, Viterbo’s vice president for institutional advancement.
