NEXSTAR SEASON BRINGS LIGHT-HEARTED MUSIC AND COMEDY TO VITERBO UNIVERSITY FINE ARTS CENTER IN 2015-2016

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Music, comedy, and astounding feats will be featured at Viterbo University in the 2015-2016 NexStar Season.

Established in 2000, the NexStar Season offers light entertainment, including comedy acts, plays, and contemporary music. This coming season will feature a mix of great music, astonishing acrobatics, and plenty of laughs.

The season opens Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. with DSB-America’s Favorite Tribute to Journey, which has been hailed as the “next best thing” to Journey. DSB is dedicated to maintaining the Journey legacy, and their concert experience is sure to keep the audience Believin’.

VoicePlay, as seen on Season 4 of NBC’s The Sing Off, is next up in the season lineup on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. The five members of this a cappella group explore a variety of musical eras and styles as they weave barbershop-style harmonies in an “inventive and often hilarious” theatrical performance. VoicePlay may be all about the music, but they are sure to have the audience rolling with laughter even as they find themselves unable to stop their tapping toes.

The season will continue with The Peking Acrobats® on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m, and will conclude with a NexStar first: a choice between two performances. In April, the Viterbo University department of theatre and music theatre will present Altar Boyz, an irreverent spoof of a final tour performance by a Christian boyband, and Shout! The Mod Musical, a nostalgic musical revue of 1960s hits. Altar Boyz and Shout! The Mod Musical will be produced at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts in downtown La Crosse.

“The NexStar Season is a more light-hearted collection of performances that has been immensely popular since its first season,” said Michael Ranscht, director of the Fine Arts Center. “This season is a great option for people looking to have a laugh and enjoy a few nights out with friends.”

Season tickets are on sale now through Aug. 7 and can be purchased by contacting the Viterbo Box Office at 608-796-3100. Packages start at $79 for all four performances. More information about the performances may be found at www.viterbo.edu/fac.
