MONTANA REPERTORY THEATRE TO PRESENT THE GREAT GATSBY AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY MARCH 22
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Montana Repertory Theatre will present the stage adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel The Great Gatsby at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 22 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
Written in 1925, The Great Gatsby, set in the Roaring Twenties, is the story of young and mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and his obsession with the beautiful Daisy Buchanan. The novel explores the themes of decadence, excess, and idealism and is described as a cautionary tale about the American Dream. The Modern Library Editorial Board voted The Great Gatsby the 20th Century’s Best American Novel.
“As we continue telling great American stories, we approach The Great Gatsby with all the honor and care such an outstanding work of art deserves,” said Greg Johnson, artistic director for the Montana Repertory Theatre. “We’re pleased to reintroduce and reinvigorate this classic, bringing the beauty and poetry of this masterpiece to a new generation of theatre-goers.”
This Viterbo Bright Star Season performance is sponsored by Gundersen Health System and in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Soft Rock 101.1 FM KHME is the media sponsor.
