New Faces and Trading Places in the Library
The library has had some changes in staff over the summer, and we’d like to introduce you to the people ready to help you.
Jason Skoog is the archives and systems librarian. He will manage the digital repositories and print collections in the university archives, the library website, and the integrated library system. He will also be responsible for the journal collection. Jason can be reached at jaskoog@viterbo.edu.
Annie Baumann is the electronic services librarian. She will manage the library's electronic databases, services, and resources. She will also teach in person and online in the library instruction program, and conduct outreach to graduate students. Annie can be reached at albaumann@viterbo.edu.
Mark Hamilton is the evening services librarian. He will provide reference, interlibrary loan, printing and general information services to the Viterbo community during the very busy hours of 4:30 p.m.-1 a.m. Mark can be reached at mahamilton@viterbo.edu.
Cari Mathwig Ramseier is the instructional designer. She assists faculty in the development of technology-enhanced courses, facilitates professional development activities for faculty and staff and collaborates with other campus support entities to enhance physical and online learning environments. Preserving Viterbo History in the Archives
In a collaboration with the alumni office, the library staff and students have digitized over a thousand Viterbo-related photos. The photographs capture the early Franciscan Sisters who were instrumental in the university’s history as well as more modern photographs of Viterbo activities.
The photos are being continually uploaded to the university images collection of the university archives digital collection. In the collection you can browse recent uploads using the sliding tool, or search in the box on the upper left. While viewing a photo, scroll down to read any known information, such as year and individuals’ names. You can also click on links in “Description” and “Subjects” to find similar photos. If you have any questions about navigating the archive, contact a librarian for help.

The digitization project encouraged a second library collaboration with communications and marketing when producing the video “125 Years of Franciscan Spirit” in honor of Viterbo’s 125th anniversary. The library is proud to see the archives become an active and visible place on campus, especially after suffering a loss with the passing of Jonathan Hinck on July 1. His official title was collection management librarian but many remember him as the helpful library archivist with a quick smile.
Another digital collection is the Viterbo Research Collection. Categories include Fine Arts Recordings, Masters Scholarships, Scholars Day, and Seven Rivers Undergraduate Research Symposium. Fine Arts Recordings includes student, faculty, and guest recitals.
