Maria Morgan-Bathke, nutrition and dietetics, who presented her research abstract entitled “Assessing the Role of Saturated Fats in Adipose Tissue Inflammation” at a conference in San Diego April 2–4. The abstract was selected in the top 20 percent of abstracts submitted to the Experimental Biology Conference (out of about 14,000 applications). For making the top 20, she was nominated to participate in the American Society of Nutrition’s Emerging Leader in Nutrition Science Competition. Morgan-Bathke presented a poster presentation on her research to the judges and was selected as a finalist (top 5) for the award. She was selected as a “highlighted” presenter and a video of her providing a synopsis of her research can be found on the American Society for Nutrition website.
