Kartick’s Story
Growing up in Malawi, Africa, Kartick Patel was an excellent student with a strong interest and natural aptitude for the sciences. He was also a soccer player who had his share of problems with his feet and ankles.
Becoming a podiatrist was the perfect career choice.
Upon graduation from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Patel will be a certified podiatric physician and will begin his three-year residency.
“Viterbo prepared me well for my future career,” Patel said. “In addition to the excellent science facilities and faculty, Viterbo really stressed the importance of a strong work ethic and commitment.”
Patel found a warm and welcoming community at Viterbo, he said. He quickly became very involved on campus, serving as the president of the Student Government Association and participating in numerous service projects.
“I enjoy helping people,” he said. “I was able to do that at Viterbo and can continue to do so in my career.”
After graduating from Viterbo, Patel earned a masters degree in health systems administration from Georgetown University.
“I want to eventually be both a practitioner and an administrator,” he said.
