Improvements Underway at Viterbo Outdoor Athletics Complex

Thursday, August 20, 2015

Major improvements are underway at the Viterbo University Outdoor Athletics Complex on Highway 16—the construction of a service building that will provide running water, restrooms, a changing room, a shelter for fans, and concessions; and grading, curbing, and other modifications that will eliminate erosion of the fields from water run off.

“We want to maintain quality playing fields for our student-athletes,” said Barry Fried, athletics. “Currently, it’s difficult to do that given the constant erosion and drainage issues. The regrading and erosion control measures completed in phase one of the project will correct many of those problems. Secondly, the new building in phase two will allow us to provide better hospitality and service to our fans, parents, and visiting teams. That ties in to the mission of university and will be very much appreciated by all patrons of the complex.”

The first phase of the project, which includes the grading work, the completion of the water, sewer, and utilities infrastructure, and the pouring of the building foundation will be completed this year. Phase two, the construction of the building, is scheduled for 2016. Borton Construction is leading the project.
