HENRY KOCH, DIRECTOR OF THE SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT AT
LA CROSSE COUNTY LANDFILL TO OPEN LEADERSHIP AT NOON
SERIES AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY OCT. 15

LA
CROSSE, Wis. – The 2013–14 Leadership at Noon series at Viterbo University
will open with Henry Koch, solid waste department director at the La Crosse
County landfill, Tuesday, Oct. 15 in Reinhart Center room 107.

The La Crosse County landfill which
opened in 1977 and is expected to run until 2033, provides solid waste disposal
services to surrounding counties in Wisconsin and Minnesota. It accepts waste
from residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional sources.  

Under the leadership of Henry Koch,
the landfill has become a national model for its innovative use of recycling
programs, its energy production collaboration with Gundersen Health System, and
its development of nature trails, wetlands, and green space. 

The landfill operates as an
enterprise fund, meaning that the fees collected from customers are used to pay
the expenses of running the landfill.

The Viterbo Leadership at Noon series features business leaders
discussing the key values that contribute to successful business practices. The
series will continue Tuesday, Nov. 19 with Jeff Behan, vice president of
planning and business development with Brunswick Boat Group of Knoxville, Tenn.

All Leadership at Noon series events are held from noon–1 p.m. in the
Reinhart Center and are free and open to the public. Audience members are
welcome to bring their own lunch or purchase a boxed lunch for $5. The
Leadership at Noon series is sponsored by the D.B. Reinhart Institute for
Ethics in Leadership and the Dahl School of Business at Viterbo University.
