At Viterbo, research plays a big role in classrooms. Whether you’re teaching freshmen, seniors, or graduate students, there’s a chance you’ll be asking for research skills that your students are still developing. A great way to guide your students to a deeper understanding of the research process is to schedule a library instruction session with a librarian.

Librarians are available to visit your classroom, whether in person or virtually through Moodle or Skype for Business. Class instruction can be formal or informal. Even one-on-one appointments can be arranged.

In addition to our instruction program, the library website contains numerous tutorials to help guide researchers through tricky and confusing situations. The How do I…? research guide contains information on everything from setting up an interlibrary loan account to understanding how to access articles. Interactive tutorials or research guides can be created to meet your class’s unique needs, if the existing tutorials aren’t quite what you need.

Instruction takes place at the reference desk, too, and we’re available to help you and your students from opening until closing hours, which much of the time stretches until 1 a.m. The chat box on our library’s home page, an extremely popular way to seek help, is staffed during most of the hours we’re open.
