GLENA TEMPLE TO LEAD ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY

LA CROSSE, Wis.— Glena Temple, Ph.D., has been named vice president for academic affairs and dean of graduate studies at Viterbo University effective Jan. 31. Following a national search, Temple was chosen to lead the academic programs at the university, succeeding Barbara Gayle who resigned in September.

For Temple, it is a homecoming of sorts—returning to Viterbo after serving for the past year as dean for Online and Distance Education at the University of Wisconsin Colleges composed of 13 campuses throughout Wisconsin and the online program.

“It’s an honor to assume this position and in doing so contribute to the mission of preparing students for faithful service and ethical leadership,” Temple said. “In celebrating it’s (Viterbo’s) 125th anniversary, I am reminded we are all part of a greater effort in continuing the legacy of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration by promoting high-quality, values-based education that transforms lives.”

Prior to leaving Viterbo in December 2013, Temple served as associate vice president for academic affairs and dean of the School of Letters and Sciences. She earned a Ph.D. in Botany and Plant Sciences from the University of California, Riverside, a master’s degree in Education Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota, and a bachelor’s degree from Allegheny College (Pa).
