Focus: “Giving Drink to the Thirsty”

Reflection from “Laudato Si:” “…access to safe drinkable water is a basic and universal human right, since it is essential to human survival and, as such, is a condition for the exercise of other human rights. Our world has a grave social debt towards the poor who lack access to drinking water, because they are denied the right to a life consistent with their inalienable dignity.” (#30)

Embracing the Year of Mercy: “Water is a life-giving resource that many people around the world do not have.  When we work to change that, we respect their essential dignity.”  (Embracing the Year of Mercy, Diocese of La Crosse, pg. 17)

Prayer: All praise be yours, my LORD, through Sister Water, so useful, lowly, precious and pure. (Canticle of the Sun).  May the voices of every woman and man in the world repeat confidently without end: “be mindful of your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old.” (Psalm 25:6)
