Encourage Students to Take the National Survey of Student Engagement

Friday, February 10, 2017

Viterbo University is participating in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) spring semester 2017. The purpose of the survey is to gauge students’ engagement in their learning and to learn what they have gained from their college experience.

The NSSE 2017 will be administered in around 700 colleges and universities across the nation and so provides excellent benchmarking on a national level. An additional benchmark group will be institutions in the Catholic Colleges and Universities Consortium.

All undergraduate first-year students and seniors will be invited to provide input about the level of academic challenge, their experience of active and collaborative learning, student-faculty interaction, and the campus environment. Students should look for e-mail invitations to participate in the survey.

Viterbo participates in the NSSE every three years and gains valuable information about student engagement. The ultimate goal of participation in the NSSE is to use the results to make improvements, which will benefit Viterbo students.

To ensure a good response rate, faculty and staff are asked to encourage students to take the survey and give their feedback. Questions about the survey may be directed to Naomi Stennes-Spidahl, director of assessment and institutional research at ext. 3481 or Carol Geszvain, research assistant, at ext. 3485.
