CORNELL UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR JIM DETERT TO GIVE BUSINESS ETHICS PRESENTATION AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY JAN. 21

CROSSE, Wis. – Jim Detert, associate professor in the Johnson School of
Management at Cornell University, will present “Bad Apples, Bad Barrels, and
the Development of Better Business Ethics Explanations” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan.
21 in the Viterbo University Reinhart Center room 107.
Detert’s presentation will describe
a different way of thinking about ethical lapses. He will briefly share what
evolutionary psychologists, neuroscientists, behavioral economists, and others
are now revealing about human ethical behavior, and discuss what this new
knowledge suggests as possibilities for fundamentally altering how applied
ethics is taught in organizations of all types.
Detert’s research has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Operations Management, and Harvard Business Review. Detert has
earned a number of academic degrees, including a Master of Arts in Sociology
and a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Harvard University.
