Celebrating One Year of Service Saturdays Feb. 25

By Kirsten Gabriel

Since its inception in February 2016, the Service Saturdays program has served over 200 students, faculty, and staff (many of them multiple times) and partnered with 11 community organizations. Thank to everyone who has made our first year a success.

Join us in volunteering Saturday, Feb. 25 as we celebrate the first anniversary (or—more fun—the first birthday) of the Service Saturday program. While we’ll be enjoying birthday cake and service “treat” bags at our reflective post-service lunch at Place of Grace, our most important work will be volunteering alongside:

  • La Crosse Parks, Recreation, and Forestry doing goat prairie restoration work,
  • La Crosse Children’s Museum as they celebrate their 18th birthday party,
  • WAFER Food Pantry handing out food as part of their monthly food fair,
  • Place of Grace sorting food pantry donations and making lunch for volunteers and for an upcoming PoG meal.

Sign up online. Feel free to bring family members, and encourage your students (particularly freshmen and sophomores) to participate. Questions can be directed to Kirsten Gabriel
