CANADIAN BRASS TO PERFORM AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY FEB. 22

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The internationally renowned quintet Canadian Brass will bring their incredible music and stage presence to the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre as they perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22.

Founded in 1970, Canadian Brass has performed in virtually every major concert hall in the world, been seen by hundreds of millions of people on television, and has contributed nearly 600 new works and arrangements to the brass quintet repertoire. The group has also developed a uniquely engaging stage presence and rapport with audiences. Each of their concerts includes a full range of trademark Baroque and Dixieland tunes to new compositions and arrangements created especially for them, from formal classical presentations to music with lively dialogue and theatrical effects.

According to the band, “the hallmark of any Canadian Brass performance is entertainment, spontaneity, virtuosity and, most of all, fun—but never at the expense of the music. Whatever the style, the music is central and performed with utmost dedication, skill, and excellence.”

Canadian Brass has sold more than two million albums and have appeared on numerous television programs including The Tonight ShowToday, and Entertainment Tonight, PBS specials, Sesame Street, and recently to more than half a billion viewers on China’s most popular station.

“These are the men who put brass music on the map—with their unbeatable blend of virtuosity, spontaneity, and humor, they brighten the rosters of concert halls, international festivals, and orchestra series throughout the world,” wrote a reviewer in the Washington Post. “Their numerous recordings, frequent television appearances, and tireless efforts in the realm of music education have resulted in vast new audiences for the art of the Canadian Brass.”

Canadian Brass is: founding member Chuck Daellenbach (tuba), James Vaughen and Caleb Hudson (trumpets), Achilles Liarmakopoulos (trombone), and Jeff Nelsen (horn). Canadian Brass is represented by IMG Artists in New York.

This performance is part of Viterbo’s Presenting Series and is sponsored in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Wisconsin Public Radio and FOX 25/48 are the media sponsors.

Tickets are $42 for main floor, $38 for lower balcony, and $32 for upper balcony seating, plus taxes and fees. Masks are required to be worn in all indoor public spaces on the Viterbo campus.
