LA CROSSE, Wis. – After a two week break, two Viterbo University track and field competitors will be back in action at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships beginning on May 21. Kayla King (FR/St. Croix, V.I.) will represent the V-Hawks in the 100 meter dash while Keegan Bludworth (JR/Leesburg, Ga.) will face off in the javelin toss.

King has proved time and time again she is the fastest in the Midwest Collegiate Conference and can hang with anyone. The freshman has earned five top-five finishes in the 100 meter this outdoor season in six chances including three first place marks. At the MCC Outdoor Championships, King topped 25 runners as she crossed the finish line in a personal and school record of 12.15 seconds. King currently ranks 30th overall in the NAIA with her time and seventh among freshman.

On the men's side, Bludworth has emerged one of the best javelin throwers in the country. The junior is currently fifth in the NAIA with his season best toss of 60.90 meters, a mark he set at the MCC Outdoor Championships. At the conference meet, Bludworth beat out the second place finisher by nearly 11 meters in a landslide victory. So far this season, Bludworth has earned a first place finish in three different meets.

King and Bludworth Viterbo University's first NAIA Outdoor National Championships qualifiers since Bea Foley in 2012.
