AUDITIONS FOR MISSOULA CHILDREN’S THEATRE’S PETER AND WENDY TO BE HELD AUG. 1

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Auditions will be held for the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) production of Peter and Wendy Monday, Aug. 1 at the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center from 8:15–10:30 a.m. Those auditioning should arrive by 8:15 a.m. to register and plan to stay until 10:30 a.m. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the auditions.

Among the roles to be cast are Peter Pan; Tinker Bell; Wendy, John, and Michael Darling; Peter’s shadow; Captain Hook; Tiger Lily; the crocodile; the Lost Boys; pirates; and many other characters from the beloved children’s story. Children in kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant directors will also be cast to assist with rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities.

Missoula Children's Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. The MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. Although not all cast members will be needed at every rehearsal session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and be able to attend all rehearsals for their role.

Although this is the 24th consecutive year in which MCT is visiting the Viterbo Fine Arts Center, this is the first summer residency the university has hosted. Past residencies have occurred during the fall, and MCT will return Tuesday, Nov. 1–Friday Nov. 5 for a production of Rapunzel. Based on an interest in summer programming from past participants, the August residency was added in order to provide additional arts activities for children.

Peter and Wendy will be presented Saturday, Aug. 6 at 1 and 4 p.m. in the Viterbo Fine Arts Center Main Theatre. The Missoula Children's Theatre residency in La Crosse is presented by the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center with support from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Wisconsin and Southeastern Minnesota. The residency is sponsored in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
