ARTS FOR YOUNG AMERICA SCHOOL SERIES RETURNS TO THE VITERBO UNIVERSITY FINE ARTS CENTER

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Arts for Young America School Series performances will return to the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center in Spring 2022.

Arts for Young America School Series performances were paused in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students in grades PK-12, along with teachers and chaperones are invited to attend musicals and plays based on popular children’s literature, biographical/historical plays, multicultural titles, and STEAM-related presentations.

The spring 2022 schedule will include: Freedom Riders presented by Mad River Theatre Works, The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation–Live! presented by Griffin Theater Company; Peter Feigl, Holocaust Survivor presented by Viterbo’s D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics; The Elephant Speaks Jazz (world premiere) presented by Viterbo University and WonderStruck Theatre Co., The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare: The Next Gen presented by Lightwire Theatre, and The Mayhem Poets. All performances will be in the Viterbo Fine Arts Center Main Theatre except for The Elephant Speaks Jazz (world premiere), which will be at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts–Lyche Theatre.

With the COVID-19 vaccine widely available for school-aged children and districts supporting fieldtrip activities, we felt restarting the program in the spring of 2022 would be the perfect time to offer this programming to our local schools and surrounding districts,” said Dillon McArdle, director of the Viterbo Fine Arts Center.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, each season approximately 20,000 teachers and students attended Arts for Young America School Series performances in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center. The series has been in play for more than 25 years.

Tickets are $7 for students and chaperones. At this time, masks are required be worn inside all Viterbo University campus buildings and at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts. To reserve tickets and for more information, visit www.viterbo.edu/aya
