ACCLAIMED GIORDANO DANCE CHICAGO COMPANY TO PERFORM AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY FEB. 9

LA CROSSE, Wis. – America’s original jazz dance company, Giordano Dance Chicago (GDC), will bring their signature power, elegance, athleticism, and unparalleled energy to the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9.

Founded in 1963 by Gus Giordano and now in its 54th season, the award-winning GDC takes audiences around the world on a wide-ranging journey of emotion, music, and dance styles as it presents a diverse program of works from its critically-acclaimed and exciting repertoire. The group has earned rave reviews, including being described as “Pure Joy” by a Chicago Tribune reviewer, “Stunning!” by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and “Sensational!” in a Chicago Sun-Times review. They were featured on the cover of Dance magazine in 2013 in honor of the company’s 50th anniversary season.

The mission of GDC is to create and present new and innovative jazz dance choreography, often redefining and expanding the very definition of jazz dance, and to bring this invaluable American art form to audiences and students of all ages and from all ethnic backgrounds. In addition to its work on the stage, GDC enriches lives through outreach programs and activities that meet the needs of diverse and underserved communities.

This performance is part of Viterbo’s Bright Star Season and is sponsored in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Wisconsin Public Radio is the media sponsor and Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center is the hotel sponsor.

Tickets are $38 for main floor, $34 for lower balcony, and $28 for upper balcony seating. For tickets, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or visit www.viterbo.edu/tickets.
