Are you interested in rural healthcare?
Join faculty of the Viterbo University School of Nursing for a special luncheon and nursing simulation to learn more about Viterbo's NURSES (Nursing for Underserved Rural Students seeking Educational Success) program. Through the NURSES program, students are eligible for scholarships, summer immersion experiences, academic support, peer mentoring, student employment, rural clinical site placements, and other high impact experiences. The NURSES program is funded by a $1.64 million Health Resources and Services Administration Nursing Workforce Diversity grant aimed at addressing the shortage of diverse nurses working in rural areas. Viterbo hopes to address this shortage by training more nurses to tackle the unique health issues facing rural populations, with the goal of improving health outcomes in these underserved communities. This special event features:
- a complimentary lunch with current nursing faculty
- a presentation on the NURSES Project (including eligibility requirements and benefits)
- a simulation experience in Viterbo's state-of-the-art nursing simulation center
*Please note that to be eligible for the NURSES program, an entering first year student will: be enrolled in a high school within a 100 mile radius of La Crosse, in a county that meets the HRSA defnition of rural, be admitted to Viterbo as a nursing major, and demonstrate financial need as determined by FAFSA information. Preference will be given to students that are a member of an underrepresented minority group, have the greatest financial need, and articulate a career interest in rural health nursing.

- Tour of campus including residence halls
- Meet with current students
- Meet with faculty
- Free Viterbo swag
